CGCN's Certification Committee is comprised of members from grape and wine industry stakeholders throughout Canada.
Certification Committee Members
The Committee is chaired by former CGCN Secretary, Robert Prange, and is comprised of individuals from, nurseries, wineries, research institutions, vineyard managers, Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), Agriculture and Agri Food Canada (AAFC), as well as the CGCN Board of Directors.
Together, the Committee created the Certification Program Standards and the Interim Verification Program Standards. They finalized the first version of Certification protocols in 2019, and conduct regular reviews to ensure they remain on the cutting edge of industry standards.
The Committee meets periodically to discuss efforts towards the certification process, and provide feedback to the CGCN Board of Directors. From time to time, the Committee is also called upon for an expert opinion based on the specialties of the members.
