Sustainable Wine Roundtable (SWR)

What sustainability means in wine

More than a dozen wine companies and other key organizations have combined forces to create the Sustainable Wine Roundtable (SWR). Please join us.

The SWR will be a globally-minded non-profit that will do the following, in concert with the wine industry and other key sustainability experts:

  1. Working with existing certification initiatives and all key stakeholders, develop a global sustainability standard. The standard will define terms and best practices, set benchmarks and metrics, and convene a common language -- all essential for the wine sector to meet its social and environmental responsibilities.
  2. Become a global, multi stakeholder platform for dialogue, advocacy, collaboration, tool sharing and active problem solving -- essential for the wine community to go beyond its civic responsibility and take its place as a sustainability leader.
  3. Provide practical guidance to responsibly produce and market high quality wines, to raise awareness and engage consumers with clear and credible claims.

Find out more about the SWR with this brief presentation, just click here. Here’s a recent short piece explaining more in the wine media: http://www.the-buyer.net/opinion/tobias-webb-sustainable-wine/
